If you’re planning on proposing in Los Angeles, you’re in luck: LA is a city that’s brimming with gorgeous, unique, and romantic proposal spots. The City of Angels is as varied in culture as it is in terrain, which means you have a bevy of excellent proposal locations to choose from, no matter what atmosphere you’re looking for. So, Los Angeles has many excellent proposal spots-- but which location should you choose? Read on to see our top recommendations as we share our list of the best places to propose in Los Angeles.

The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel

If your sweetheart loves classic Hollywood movies, there’s no better place to propose than the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The Roosevelt, built in the 1920s, is a gorgeous Spanish Colonial-style hotel that’s rich in Hollywood history. It was the site of the first ever Academy Awards and it was frequented by Old Hollywood stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Clark Gable, and Carole Lombard. On top of being historic and beautiful, the Roosevelt is also ripe with proposal location options. Choose from locations such as the Roosevelt’s spectacular lobby, their center courtyard, their romantic restaurant, and their poolside cabanas to find your perfect proposal spot.

Descanso Gardens

Propose amongst the beauty of nature by taking a trip to Descanso Gardens, located just 20 minutes from Downtown LA. Descanso Gardens, one of the best gardens in Los Angeles, features over 160 acres of natural scenery. Their diverse array of flora includes a Rose Garden, a Japanese Garden, a Camellia Collection, an Ancient Forest, and much more, so you can choose your ideal natural backdrop for your dream proposal. Since Descanso Gardens is expansive, we recommend taking a solo trip to the Gardens before you propose so you can scout out some prime locations before your couples’ visit.

Space Shuttle Endeavor at the California Science Center

There are many museums and cultural centers to choose from for a Los Angeles proposal. But one of the most unique is the California Science Center. The California Science Center is home to many fascinating exhibits, but our favorite for a marriage proposal is their Space Shuttle Endeavor exhibit. The Space Shuttle Endeavor provides quite a grand, wondrous backdrop for when you get down on one knee.

The Micheltorena Stairs

The Micheltorena Stairs, located in Silverlake, are a picture-perfect place to propose. To pull off a surprise proposal at these vibrantly painted stairs, consider this proposal idea: grab breakfast or coffee at a hip local eatery, then suggest you go for a stroll around the neighborhood so you can make your way to your proposal destination.

The Pacific Wheel at the Santa Monica Pier

The Santa Monica Pier has a fun, nostalgic feel that makes it a superb place for a more whimsical proposal. There’s a lot to do at the Santa Monica Pier, but our top proposal location recommendation there is on the Pacific Wheel. The Pacific Wheel is a 130 foot ferris wheel that overlooks the ocean, the beach, and the city in the distance. For maximum romance, time your ferris wheel proposal for golden hour, when the glow of the setting sun will make the beautiful scenery look even more magical.

The Griffith Observatory

Take advantage of the beauty of LA’s city lights by proposing at The Griffith Observatory at night. The Griffith Observatory is an observatory and exhibition space that’s perched at the top of Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park. From the observatory, you can see magnificent views of Hollywood (including the Hollywood sign), Downtown Los Angeles, the Pacific Ocean, and, of course, the stars. Use the Observatory’s quarter-operated telescopes to scope out the stunning scenery before presenting your love with their engagement ring.

The Gardens The Getty Center

If your love adores art, gardens, architecture, or all of the above, The Getty Center is your perfect marriage proposal location. The Getty Center is simply a lovely place to propose, as you can enjoy fine art, incredible food, and breathtaking natural beauty before you pop the question. The Getty Center is a fairly expansive spot, so there are also many proposal locations to choose from within the Getty. But our favorite is their Central Garden, an ever-evolving garden that features a stone waterfall, over 500 varieties of plants, and a spiraling centerpiece formed with hedges.
